Fancy Dress For the Plus Size Costume Lover

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Rachel_Fierro]Rachel Fierro

There was a time when there was no such thing as plus size costumes and the costumes available in larger sizes were generally limited and unflattering.

Today, plus size costumes come in a wide variety of styles for both men and women, and all are quite complimentary. For women, they can get costumes that will allow them to dress up as Princess Fiona from Shrek, a regal princess, Goldilocks, and even Red Riding Hood. Many costume companies now offer these and other plus size costumes in a whole host of sizes so that woman can be comfortable and sexy in their outfits.

The same is true for men; they can get costumes that allow them to be Jack Sparrow, King Arthur, Hugh Hefner, King Leonidas (from the movie 300, complete with synthetic rippling six-pack abs), and even Shrek. Granted, the last one is not much of a stretch, but it is a popular character. You get the idea, if you want to be a character, you can, no matter what your size.

Costumes have come a long way at being complimentary for people who are large. Both men and women can be famous literary and historic characters such as Sherlock Holmes, Julius Caesar, presidents and queens, characters from Shakespeare, Greek and Roman heroes, and they can even be their favorite pop star - despite not having the same figure. So, people of a larger size can get plus size costumes to be Britney Spears, Elton John, Elvis Presley, and they can even get together with their friends and be the Beatles, the Supremes or any other group that they enjoy.

One of the most popular full-sized couples costume ideas are Lederhosen and Gretchen. These costumes are comfortable enough to get you through the evening fun in style. Gretchen is quite a sexy costume without being over the top, if you know what I mean. She's flattering in all the right places.

Of course, as most costumes are for Halloween, there are plus size costumes for all the classic characters: vampires, werewolves, angels and demons, and even the Frankenstein monster. People can buy or rent these costumes and get them to fit just right, which makes the experience of going to a party all the more enjoyable.

Keep these costume ideas in mind as you never know what sort of costume party invitation might arrive. Consider a costume theme wedding, a company holiday party, a night of role-play with your partner, your child's birthday party, and the list goes on. For all of these events, including Halloween, there are plenty of plus size costumes to choose from.
